The BAMUL Dairy at Kanakpura, developed for BAMUL Nandini (Bangalore Cooperative Milk Union Limited), is a significant greenfield project designed to address the growing demand for dairy products in Karnataka. Spread across a 1,79,500 sqm site, the project is situated on challenging hilly terrain with a 33-meter level difference from one end of the plot to the other. The design capitalizes on the topography while ensuring efficiency and functionality. Developed in two phases, the facility incorporates modern technology, sustainable practices, and robust infrastructure to enhance BAMUL’s operational capacity.

Phase 1, with a total built-up area of 49,000 sqm, establishes the primary processing and production facilities. The plant includes a liquid milk plant with a capacity of 6 LLPD, expandable to 10 LLPD, alongside dedicated facilities for 20 TPD cheddar cheese plant, 15 TPD mozzarella cheese plant, 20 TPD process cheese plant, 1 LLPD flexi-pack production, 40 TPD powder production, and paneer, ghee, and butter manufacturing. Supporting infrastructure includes a guest house, tanker reception area, CIP kitchen, utility building, water treatment plant, effluent treatment plant, and a stormwater pond designed for rainwater harvesting. Locally available materials were utilized to reduce costs and expedite construction, reflecting the project’s commitment to sustainability and economic efficiency.

Phase 2, encompassing a built-up area of 13,600 sqm, focuses on expanding the plant’s capabilities. It includes a 60 TPD powder plant, utility expansions, a new boiler house, and upgrades to the tanker reception and water treatment areas. This phase seamlessly integrates with the existing setup, enhancing the facility’s overall efficiency and capacity.

We provided comprehensive services for both phases of the project, including tendering, master planning, architectural design, structural engineering, and MEPF services (Electrical, ELV, Plumbing, and Fire Protection). The design addressed the complex challenges of the hilly terrain, while ensuring smooth integration of all units to meet BAMUL’s operational requirements. As one of Karnataka’s premier dairy cooperatives, BAMUL Nandini’s commitment to empowering rural livelihoods and delivering high-quality dairy products is exemplified by this project.
