181 MLD WTP

Vellore, Tamil Nadu

The 181 MLD Water Treatment Plant (WTP), located near the Kaveri River in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, is a landmark project developed for the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board. This facility plays a crucial role in ensuring a reliable and safe water supply for the region, addressing the growing demand from local communities.

The WTP features six reactor clarifiers, each with a diameter of 30.5 meters and a water depth of 4.5 meters, designed to efficiently separate solids from water during the treatment process. In addition, the plant is equipped with ten rapid sand gravity filters, each measuring 13 meters in length and 10 meters in width, which enhance the purification of water by removing remaining impurities.

A significant component of this facility is the chlorine contact tank, sized at 23.7 meters by 29 meters, which ensures that treated water is adequately disinfected before distribution. The WTP also includes a sludge disposal arrangement, facilitating the effective management of waste generated during the treatment process.

Constructed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T), this project showcases our commitment to providing optimized and economical structural consultancy solutions. Our team focused on innovative design and engineering practices that enhance operational efficiency while minimizing costs.

The establishment of this WTP is not only vital for meeting the immediate water supply needs of Vellore but also contributes to long-term sustainability and environmental health in the region. By implementing advanced treatment technologies and robust infrastructure, we are proud to support Tamil Nadu’s vision for improved water management and public health.
