The 114 MLD Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in Ranchi, Jharkhand, is a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing the city’s water supply system. This project is part of the Jharkhand Urban Water Supply Improvement Project (JUWSIP), which is funded partially by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and aims to provide adequate and quality water to the urban local bodies in the region.

Key components of the WTP include four clarifiers, each designed with a side water depth of 3.35 meters, facilitating efficient sedimentation of impurities from the raw water. The facility features a filter house measuring 60 meters in length and 30 meters in width, which houses twelve filter beds. Each filter bed measures 10.5 meters by 9.5 meters with a water depth of 3.10 meters, ensuring thorough filtration of treated water before distribution.

To support the treatment process, the plant includes a 750 m³ backwash water tank, essential for maintaining the efficiency of the filtration system. Additionally, there is a 37 m x 16 m chemical store building and a 16 m x 16 m chemical house for the safe storage and management of treatment chemicals. The facility also features a 50 lakh liter clear water reservoir, providing adequate storage for treated water, along with a 52 m x 24 m clear water pump house that facilitates the distribution of clean drinking water to the community.
